New Haven F-units!!!!
Title:  New Haven F-units!!!!
Description:  I have never seen the F10 or FL9 locos pulling a train, so this was as good as it got for me! This is better than nothing of course because all F-units have been stored out of service (as of 2009)! I did make a few trips with Dad trying to catch them before they were gone and this was one of those trips! Two FL9M locomotives in old New Haven livery are at Brewster Yard near Brewster, New York, March 1, 2008. Engines #2014 and #2026 work for the Metro-North Commuter Railroad. They are waiting for the next assignment of Connecticut Department of Transportation, subsidiary to Metro-North. Other passenger equipment is seen in the background. PHOTO ID #2195879 shows the time in 2007 where we got MNCR FP10 #413! (Canon AE-1 35mm camera, Kodak Gold 100 print film)

"Spike 150 Train"
Title:  "Spike 150 Train"
Description:  The "Spike 150 Train" heads east through the Echo Canyon, Utah, on its way to Evanston, Wyoming, May 12, 2019. We luckily got ahead of this train by driving down Echo Canyon Road thanks to finding a good route on my newly purchased Utah DeLorme atlas. We got ahead of the crowd from Echo, UT going east. People passed us around "Blind Curves!!!!" I used my "MA" motor drive out the rear window! "Big Boy" 4-8-8-4 leads the train! UP ordered twenty five "Big Boy" locomotives between 1941 and 1944. The frame is “articulated” with two sets of driving wheels, perfect for negotiating tight mountain turns. 4014 was built in 1941 and last steamed in 1959. It eventually was restored to operation, converted to run with oil and put in service specifically for use during the anniversary celebrations in 2019. (Canon AE-1 Program 35mm camera, Fuji C200 print film)

Algers, Winslow & Western SD9!!!!
Title:  Algers, Winslow & Western SD9!!!!
Description:  My only time I witnessed old Algers, Winslow and Western SD9s. Taken at the Indiana Eastern Railroad yard, July 25, 2019. I also saw AWW SD9 #206 pulling the train north into the yard. AWW #205, however is stored on an overgrown track and not being used. I hope this engine operates again. Indiana Eastern got a high hood GP38-2 that was being prepped for paint at this time! They started using it later in 2019. I do not know if AWW SD9 #206 is being used. A worker though said it was going to be back up power to the GP38-2! However, recently (March 2020) sister railroad Squaw Creek Southern scrapped the other two AWW SD9s (there were 4 total)! Glad I got two on this trip. Photo taken with permission.
