Description:
Canadian Nationals Algoma Central Railway "Agawa Canyon Tour Train" rests at Agawa Canyon, Ontario, October 18, 2003. This is the last run of the season for this train. It stopped at this park for passengers to experience the scenery. Powering this train are two SD75I locomotives. CN inherited the Algoma Central when they purchased Wisconsin Central in late 2001. Bessemer!!!!
Description:
Here's a picture I took of the only Bessemer & Lake Erie train I ever caught (I did see it arriving too)! It was southbound empty coal train in Conneaut, Ohio, 5-29-2004 (shortly after CN purchased)! I was on a trip with Dad (RCJ I) to Eastern Ohio & Pennsylvania photographing trains! Now, CN has recently replaced the Bessemer road locomotives with some other ones! There's only one (as of 10-2015) of these SD40T-3 engines left working there, #905! There are still SD38s working the ore docks though! I still would like to return someday!!!! Description:
Northbound Illinois Central train at Kankakee, Illinois in October 2004! Owned by Canadian National since 1999, these former LMX/CR C40-8W locomotives power the train! CN made these for "IC" subsidiary in 2001. Twelve of them are numbered IC 2455 to 2466. Found out the old Pullman passenger car "City of Kankakee" is ex ATSF! Date approx. SOO SD60s on train X500
Description:
This eastbound freight train passes through Howell, Michigan in 2007. Soo Line locomotive #6047 is an SD60. The second engine, #6062, is an SD60M. This type model has a “Safety Cab” that was introduced by Electro-Motive Division of General Motors in 1989. Soo Line purchased five of them. These were the last engines the railroad bought. The red paint scheme is nicknamed “Candy Apple Red.” Canadian Pacific Railway purchased SOO Line in 1990. At this time, these freight trains used “Haulage Rights” over CSX across Michigan. They operated with CSX crews and connected CP trains from Canada to the old SOO in Illinois. Date approx. (Mamiya C330 Twin Lens medium format camera, Fuji NPS 160 print film)

A Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway train heads north in Rochelle, Illinois, June 29, 2004. It is led by “Whiteface” BNSF GP39E #2765 and GP38 #2142. Both engines are still in Burlington Northern colors. This train is running on old BN trackage. Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corporation was created September 22, 1995 as the holding company. Burlington Northern Railroad acquired the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway. The official merging of both railroads was December 31, 1996. Canadian National’s yearly “Santa Train” heads south in Fraser, Michigan, December 16, 2017. The train is running on CN’s subsidiary railroad Grand Trunk Western. Lead locomotive #5930 is a Grand Trunk Western SD40-2 painted in CN paint and sublettered “GTW.” The other engine, #9614, is a GP38-2 from the Illinois Central and is also in CN paint, sublettered “IC.” CN purchased Illinois Central Railroad in 1999. Description:
This Grand Trunk Western local train is seen parked on a siding in Fraser, MI in May 2004. Engine #4633 is a GP9R. It has “Operation Lifesaver” logos and slogan. Operation Lifesaver informs the public on safety at the railroad tracks. The connection to this spur was disconnected in 2007. Trains used to serve Anderson Lumber. Date approx. CB&Q E5A #9911
Description:
Chicago, Burlington and Quincy E5A #9911 leads a special train excursion west in Moline, Illinois, July 24, 2011. This equipment was built in 1936 by Budd Company and the entire train is covered in stainless steel. The engine is named “Silver Pilot.” This is the only full CB&Q “Nebraska Zephyr” streamliner set in existence. It was retired in 1968. The five car train is interconnected and cannot be uncoupled unless at a repair shop. This was the first public excursion with this train set in over 40 years outside of Illinois Railway Museum, which owns the equipment. The excursion ran on the Iowa Interstate Railroad from Rock Island to Bureau, Illinois and return. The trainset came for a four day event named “Train Festival” held in Rock Island, Illinois.
