SP "Tunnel Motors!!!!"
Title:  SP "Tunnel Motors!!!!"
Description:  This Union Pacific train heads south, to connect west, at Joliet, Illinois in May 1998. Both locomotives are still in Southern Pacific colors. Lead locomotive #5368 is former Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad SD40T-2 and is sublettered “DRGW.” Second is SP SD45T-2 #9385. These models are nicknamed “Tunnel Motors” and were used originally by only SP and DRGW. They have large radiators allowing for cooling while passing through tunnels, which these railroads had. They were built new by Electo-Motive Division of General Motors in the 1970s. Rio Grande bought Southern Pacific Railroad in 1988 and kept it operating as SP. Union Pacific merged with Southern Pacific on September 11, 1996. After the acquisition UP became North America’s largest railroad totaling 32,200 miles in 23 states. Date approx. (Vivitar "Point-and-shoot" 35mm camera, Kodak PJC 1600 print film)

"Classic" GTW!!!!
Title:  "Classic" GTW!!!!
Description:  A westbound Grand Trunk Western manifest freight train heads through Durand, Michigan in April 1993. Lead engine #5731 is a GP38-2. Later the GTW 5700 series diesels were renumbered into the 4900 series. This was my 1st trip to Durand. It was a trip with my late Dad (RCJ I)! We stayed the night in Flint (after a good day of trains in Durand), 4-16-1993. This was at Durand the next day, the 17th. I was 9 at the time. I videotaped that trip! This whole train had absolutely no Graffiti seen! Man it would be nice if it still was like that! I love the power! Every freight (except BN coal trains and CMGN) had all GTW engines! Durand is my favorite spot (of all time) to go and watch trains! (Canon 35mm S.L.R., Kodak Gold 400-3 print film)

Bessemer!!!!
Title:  Bessemer!!!!
Description:  Here's a picture I took of the only Bessemer & Lake Erie train I ever caught (I did see it arriving too)! It was southbound empty coal train in Conneaut, Ohio, 5-29-2004 (shortly after CN purchased)! I was on a trip with Dad (RCJ I) to Eastern Ohio & Pennsylvania photographing trains! Now, CN has recently replaced the Bessemer road locomotives with some other ones! There's only one (as of 10-2015) of these SD40T-3 engines left working there, #905! There are still SD38s working the ore docks though! I still would like to return someday!!!! (Canon AE-1 35mm camera, Fuji Superia 400 print film)
